Description
Flywheels can be used to propel darts and rival balls at extreme speeds and are a critical component in the foam flinging equation. From our testing, we know that increasing the rpm of the flywheel is one way to increase the performance of the projectile. However, you can only go so far with this, after a certain point more rpms will just increase slippage between the wheels and the projectile. We solved some of this problem by cutting vertical slits around the periphery of our wheels, greatly increasing the adhesion between the wheel and the projectile. And in this case we were going for maximum grip on the ball.
Ahh, this come at some expense though. More grip some times equal more damage to the projectile. Only choose theses wheels when you are going for maximum speed. Our propriety flywheel designs have been tested on our bench under most demanding conditions, such as high rates of fire, up to 20+ rounds per second and under high crush applications, over 220 fps.
- Our 50mm flywheels will fit two types of mounting. They have a 5mm center hole for shaft style motors. They will also fit a 3 hole, 12mm diameter bolt hole pattern, like on our Sunny Sky brushless motor designs. The advantage of the 3 hole mount is that there is no chance of slippage between the flywheel and the motor. In addition, the contact area between the two are greatly increased giving them a more secure fit to the motor with less vibration.
