Description
Flywheels can be used to propel darts and rival balls at extreme speeds and are a critical component in the foam flinging equation. The size and design of the flywheel must be able to grab a projectile and send it through without destroying it at the same time. Another important factor is the weight of the flywheel, heavy wheels require more power and take longer to reach maximum speed. That is why we use Acetal plastic, it is light weight and can be easily machined into the desired shape and has enough ductility to withstand flexing when a projectile passes through. Our propriety flywheel designs have been tested on our bench under most demanding conditions, such as high rates of fire, up to 20+ rounds per second and under high crush applications.
- Our 35mm flywheels have a 5mm center hole for shaft style motors.
- Our 50mm flywheels will fit two types of mounting. They have a 5mm center hole for shaft style motors. They will also fit a 3 hole, 12mm diameter bolt hole pattern, like on our brushless motor designs. The advantage of the 3 hole mount is that there is no chance of slippage between the flywheel and the motor. In addition, the contact area between the two are greatly increased giving them a more secure fit to the motor with less vibration.
